AllotmentsAllotments

The Parish Council provides allotments for rent at the junction of Norwich Road and Poppy’s Lane.  Allotments are available to residents of Pulham St Mary and the surrounding area.  Please contact the Parish Clerk for further information.

Bus Services

There are bus services connecting the village with Diss, Harleston and Norwich.  Timetables are posted near the bus shelter and for further details on the number 38A for Harleston/Long Stratton/Norwich at bustimes.org/services/38A and for the number 584 for Diss and Long Stratton at bustimes.org/services/584

Community Car Scheme

This scheme provides transport for any resident of Pulham St Mary and Pulham Market to attend hospital and medical appointments.  A small charge is payable.  Please contact Zoe Clarke on 01379 676515 for further information.

Conservation Area

The main part of the village centre together with the land to the South bordering The Beck is designated as a Conservation Area.  This imposes special requirements on occupiers of land and property.

Doctors

Church Hill Surgery is the local general practice and provides a range of community health care.  Please contact Church Hill Surgery, Pulham Market on 01379 676227 for further information.

Other practices in the local area are at Harleston and Long Stratton.

Emergency Co-ordinator

The Parish Council has appointed an Emergency Co-ordinator who has been trained by South Norfolk Council.   In the event of an emergency (e.g. where you may be left without cooking facilities, heating or water supplies as a result of the village being cut off by snow, losing power for lengthy periods etc)  please contact Zoe Clarke  on 01379 676515.

Mobile Library

The Library visits the village centre every three weeks on Friday mornings at 10.30am.

Bus shelter and Notice boardNotice Boards

The Parish Council provides notice boards in the village centre, next to the bus shelter, at Norwich Road allotments and at South Green Recreation Field, Station Road.
These may be used by any village organisation.

Post Office

The Post Office counter at Pulham St. Mary is open mornings 9am to 1pm from Monday to Friday and 2pm to 5.30pm afternoons except Wednesday (half day closing).  The Post Office is open Saturday mornings 9am to 12.30pm.

Public Footpaths

There are 24 public rights of way in the parish, all of which are footpaths.  There are no bridleways.

The majority of footpaths have been marked with finger posts and waymark posts.  The footpaths are all clearly shown on OS Pathfinder maps 944 and 945.

Pulham Primary School

Pulham Primary School is a voluntary controlled Church of England school, founded in 1852 and located on the outskirts of Pulham Market. It serves the villages of Pulham Market, Pulham St Mary and surrounding villages.

South Green Recreation Ground and Pavilion

The South Green recreation ground and pavilion are available for hire by local sports clubs or charitable groups wishing to hold  a summer fete or similar event. Consideration will also be given to commercial organisations for the provision of events for the benefit of parishioners of Pulham St Mary and the general public. The Pennoyer Centre

The Pennoyer Centre is a registered charity, with three objectives; the provision of education, social recreation and the preservation of the historic buildings from which it operates, it is an outstanding venue for;

  • Social Gatherings & Events
  • Exhibitions, Music &  Performance
